For years, the Gen Con Writer’s Symposium has welcomed attendees to hear their favorite speculative fiction authors read from their newest releases. Now, after a brief hiatus, the readings are back!
This year, Gen Con attendees can hear authors like Peter Tieryas, Gail Z. Martin, Scott Lynch, Steve Bein, Carrie Patel, Gregory A. Wilson, Ada Palmer, Jo Walton, and many more read from their latest works.
For those of you who have never attended a reading before, it can be an amazing experience to hear your favorite authors read from their own books, to hear the voices of the characters as they intended, and to hear how inspired these authors are about their story worlds. This can also be a fantastic opportunity for readers to get to know authors who are new to them. Authors often do a brief question and answer after their readings as well, which is a good chance for readers to find out more behind the scenes information about the books and the authors they love.

The people who attend Gen Con are, by their nature, heavy readers. The games they play were inspired by speculative fiction, and speculative fiction remains a major part of their entertainment mix.
