Karen Bovenmyer

Karen Bovenmyer has been an avid gamer since finding a 10 cent copy of Dungeons and Dragons at a garage sale in 5th grade (1985). She’s been attending GenCon since 1996 and the GenCon Writer’s Symposium since its inception. She has loved watching it grow! Members of the symposium inspired Karen to seek her MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Southern Maine in 2011. Since then she has published ~25 poems, micro and flash fiction, short stories, novellas, and has a novel coming out next year. She has worked as lead writer of a educational video game design team, edited textbooks for McGraw Hill, and done novel copy editing for Dreamspinner Press. She is currently a teacher at Iowa State University and is an Assistant Editor for the fun and uplifting speculative fiction magazine Mothership Zeta, which is part of the Escape Artists company together with the Escape Pod, Pod Castle, Pseudopod, and Cast of Wonders fiction podcasts. http://www.karenbovenmyer.com
